Ravens have officially activated RB Danny Woodhead, and cut TE Gavin Escobar

To make room for Woodhead, the Ravens have waived tight end Gavin Escobar. Escobar was originally signed by Baltimore on October 23, 2017 and took snaps in Weeks 8 and 9.
Woodhead injured his hamstring in Baltimore’s season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals. In that game he had three catches for 33 yards. When injured, it was expected that he would miss 4-6 weeks. After week one, Baltimore placed Woodhead on the injured reserve. The Ravens would then use one of two IR-designated to return spots on Woodhead.
When healthy, Woodhead provides a threat as a runner and pass catcher. His playmaking skills in the slot could help a struggling Ravens passing offense that ranks 32nd in the NFL (165.7 yards per game). He also adds to a strong rushing attack, which is ranked 9th in the NFL (120.9 yards per game).
Baltimore still has Alex Collins, Javorius Allen (Buck) and Terrance West on the 53-man roster. With two pass-catching backs in Allen and Woodhead, the Ravens can get creative with their passing offense.
