This season, the Baltimore Ravens saved eight defensive lineman on their final 53-man roster. The team shuffled, scratched, and moved them all across the line, in hopes of finding yet another Raven star in the trenches. This season, this player has been none other than Willie Henry.
Once Brandon Williams became injured, Willie stepped up in a big way. He managed to bat four passes and create four pressures in his first three games. He did all of this, filling in for the great Brandon Williams. The Ravens were down two skilled lineman, both the aforementioned Brandon, and also Brent Urban. In this span, he and a mixture of Michael Pierce, Carl Davis and Patrick Ricard all shuffled around the line, in an attempt to hide the absence of Williams’ loss. It also brought about the shine of Henry.
The former Michigan Wolverine has cooled off, after his hot start, but so has the entire Ravens defense. But after a bye week, I expect the big defensive tackle to surge back into a rotational role with the other trenchmen.
