A strange matchup lies ahead, as the Baltimore Ravens head to Oakland and face the Carr-less Raiders.
After suffering a transverse process fracture, Derek Carr will be sidelined for 2-4 weeks, leaving Baltimore to face E.J. Manuel.
The last time the Ravens played against E.J. Manuel was against the Buffalo Bills. Joe Flacco threw five interceptions, and the Ravens ended up losing. The hope, today, is Joe doesn’t continue his current streak of 10 straight games with an interception, ceasing the bad play and putting points on the board.
It won’t be easy though, as Khalil Mack must be drooling with the shape of the Ravens interior line, and off-and-on right tackle Austin Howard. As former teammates, Mack might know his weaknesses, too.
Defensively, the Ravens flipped the script from ‘insurmountable turnover machine’ to ‘attack coverage linebackers’ in a hurry. The only positive note, the Raiders weapons mostly consist of receivers, rather than tight end threats. Nonetheless, they’ll still find openings against the Ravens zone coverages.
