The Baltimore Ravens’ offense needed a big performance from their biggest stars. They were able to get that big performance from running back Alex Collins. After quarterback Joe Flacco connected with Jeremy Maclin for a 34-yard touchdown, Collins took over.
The rushing attack was rock solid in the Ravens 40-0 win over the Dolphins. The Ravens rushed for 174 total yards and Collins led the way with 18 carries for 113 yards. Collins averaged 6.3 yards per carry and was able to mount the first 100-yard game of his short career.
Collins showed his shiftiness, speed, power, and agility in primetime. Not only was he able to nail big gains, but he was carrying Dolphins’ defenders on his back the entire night. Collins contributed in the passing game as well, notching two receptions for 30 yards.
This game was probably one of the wildest and craziest blowouts you'll ever see. The attention is going to be on the hit on Flacco by Miami linebacker Kiko Alonso as the days go by. But Collins was the main focal point on Thursday night.
Collins will look to build on a performance he hopes was his coming out party under the lights. Ironically, he looked more like Jay Ajayi on Thursday, than Ajayi himself. Collins is the engine that needs to continue to run for this offense to succeed.
