Raiders quarterback Derek Carr will be out 2-6 weeks with a back injury that he suffered on Sunday in a loss without the Denver Broncos. This is a huge loss for the Raiders who many picked to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl and additionally picked Carr to contend for league MVP.
For the Ravens, they catch a break they badly needed with defensive tackle Brandon Williams without a timetable for a return.
E.J. Manuel stepped in for Carr on Sunday and will likely start against the Ravens as well. Manuel, a former first round pick, has struggled since coming to the NFL and has been relegated to backup duties for several years. With the Manuel lining up behind center and the Raiders’ defense struggling, this could be a recipe for success for a Ravens team that needs to steer the ship in the right direction.
