Though it was close in decision-making, CB Artie Burns good play, OT Ronnie Stanley’s second half comeback, the final vote shows otherwise; Ravens rookie, Stanley, wins AFC North Rookie of the Year honors unanimously.
ESPN’s Ravens reporter Jamison Hensley posted his reason why the nod went to Stanley:
“He allowed only three sacks all season while blocking Joe Flacco's blind side. Stanley was also the NFL's best left tackle over the last four weeks of the season, according to Pro Football Focus. Some will go with Burns, but he gave up the most touchdown passes by a rookie corner this season.”
Completely agree with Hensley. Ronnie produced week after week, and as the season wore on he adjusted to NFL speed and play. No doubt the nagging foot injury affected him at times, but down the stretch Ronnie’s pass-blocking became pro-bowl caliber. The Ravens left tackle position will be a cornerstone to build upon for years to come.
