Kyle Barber’s Baltimore Ravens 53 man roster prediction 3.0

After the third preseason game I expected things to really solidify my prediction 2.0. Unfortunately a few injuries changed quite a lot.

Note: Players that were taken off from 2.0 are in strikethrough, new additions are italicized.

Offense:

QB:

  1. Joe Flacco
  2. Ryan Mallett

Still do not have Josh Johnson overtaking Mallett.

RB:

  1. Justin Forsett
  2. Terrance West
  3. Kenneth Dixon
  4. Javorius Allen

With my last prediction ‘Buck’ was the 54th man on my roster. With a few injuries pushing players elsewhere I now have the dual-threat tailback once again with Baltimore.

FB:

  1. Kyle Juszczyk

A swiss-army knife, Juice blocks, catches passes, runs downhill and plays special teams.

WR:

  1. Mike Wallace
  2. Steve Smith Sr.
  3. Kamar Aiken
  4. Breshad Perriman
  5. Michael Campanaro
  6. Chris Moore
  7. Jeremy Butler

No changes here. Jeremy Butler has solidified his place with the Ravens, edging out the rest of the competition. Though Campanaro hasn’t shown much time as the KR/PR specialist I still believe the value is there for the Ravens.

TE:

  1. Dennis Pitta
  2. Crockett Gillmore
  3. Maxx Williams
  4. Benjamin Watson

Heartbreaking news with Ben Watson. I loved the guy, and wish him a full recovery.

OT:

  1. Ronnie Stanley
  2. Rick Wagner
  3. Alex Lewis

Three really impressive tackles so far. Not only has Ronnie Stanley been a stalwart, but Alex Lewis is stonewalling players as well. Once again Ricky Wagner is cruising under radars as a stud right tackle. Mind you he is in a contract year, expect him to produce.

OG:

  1. Marshal Yanda
  2. John Urschel
  3. Vladimir Ducasse
  4. Ryan Jensen

Both Jensen and Ducasse have proven themselves as depth lineman. As it stands Urschel is the starting left guard and the backup has been Alex Lewis. But the race is quite close as the other two are very good. Jensen also stays on as he can be a center.

C:

  1. Jeremy Zuttah

The only true center on the Ravens, he’s listed all by himself.

Defense:

DT:

  1. Brandon Williams
  2. Timmy Jernigan
  3. Carl Davis
  4. Willie Henry

No changes here, the top three are all talented, and Willie Henry is a stud in the making.

DE:

  1. Lawrence Guy
  2. Brent Urban

Lawrence is a pass rusher that also clogs up the running lane, while Urban is a cyborg that swats down anything in his area. Both young, but they are great, effective pieces.

OLB:

  1. Terrell Suggs
  2. Elvis Dumervil
  3. Za’Darius Smith
  4. Matt Judon

Nothing new at OLB, expect this unit to make an impact.

ILB:

  1. C.J. Mosley
  2. Zachary Orr
  3. Kamalei Correa
  4. Anthony Levine Sr.
  5. Albert McClellan

Levine’s value is skyrocketing after creating two turnovers in the past two games. He’s also capable of safety play. Both he and McClellan both play excellent special teams as well, necessary for the Ravens this season.

CB:

  1. Jimmy Smith
  2. Shareece Wright
  3. Jerraud Powers
  4. Tavon Young
  5. Will Davis
  6. Maurice Canady
  7. Sheldon Price

Sheldon Price was my 53rd man, the Ravens like him but he’s a project. He and Canady are both bigger corners that can bully outside receivers if they continue to progress.

S:

  1. Eric Weddle
  2. Lardarius Webb
  3. Terrence Brooks
  4. Matt Elam

Still not thrilled about the Elam news, if you haven’t read my full-fledged article opposing the decision, I suggest you do so!

Special Teams:

  1. Morgan Cox
  2. Sam Koch
  3. Justin Tucker

Injured Reserve/Suspended:

  1. Bronson Kaufusi - IR
  2. Kyle Arrington - IR
  3. Benjamin Watson - IR
  4. Stephane Nembot - IR
  5. Lorenzo Taliaferro - PUP
  6. Nick Boyle - 10 game suspension
  7. Darren Waller - 4 game suspension

Players that just missed the cut:

  1. Kendrick Lewis - Was my 53 man, but bumped him to 54 with Anthony Levine on the roster capable of helping safety depth.
  2. Michael Pierce - Through the past three preseason games we haven’t exactly heard Carl Davis being acclaimed. I don’t know his snap total, but I know he should be doing some damage alongside Timmy and Brandon. Pierce is a good player that is a darkhorse candidate.
  3. Victor Ochi - I have a feeling the team is trying to sneak him onto the practice squad, he’s very raw but an enormous prospect.
