The Baltimore Ravens appear ready to move on from their 2013 first round pick, Matt Elam.

“In trimming roster to 75 players by Tuesday, the Ravens are expected to place TE Benjamin Watson (Achilles) and DE Bronson Kaufusi (ankle) on injured reserve and injury-waive S Matt Elam (knee). That would mean 12 more moves for Baltimore to make.” - ESPN’s Jamison Hensley

If he clears waivers, Elam will end up on the team’s injured reserve list.

A highly touted safety out of Florida, Elam was expected to come in following the departure of Ed Reed and at least provide the Ravens with a competent replacement for the future hall of famer. After an up-and-down rookie season, he regressed in 2014 and has battled injuries ever since.

It was already going to be an uphill climb for him to make the roster, and now that he has to get arthroscopic knee surgery that will sideline him for a significant portion of time, it looks like the door will finally be shutting for Elam in Baltimore.
