Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco will start in week 3 of the preseason against the Detroit Lions which will be the first time since week 11 of the 2015 season that Flacco will see time in a live NFL game after tearing his ACL and MCL.

It has been a long road to recovery for Flacco, but one that is just in time for Flacco to start off on a good note to lead the Ravens heading into week 1 of the regular season against the Buffalo Bills. Here is Flacco discussing his status via SiriusXM's Mad Dog Sports Radio.

"You need to get back out there, [and] you need to get your mind used to getting ready for a game," Flacco noted. "And then, yeah, I need to get over that last hurdle, which is going out there and being a live target for guys to hit and see how I react to it. . . I could have played in the first two preseason games. But you just kind of think: Is it worth it to get a total of three series when you're putting yourself at risk? Is that really worth it?”

Flacco and the Ravens are right, it wasn’t worth it for Flacco to start in the first two preseason games. Since Flacco already understands the playbook, it really shouldn’t be foreign territory for him when he gets out onto the field this weekend and beyond. Perfect practice makes perfect and it is obvious that the Ravens are confident that Flacco will led the team at a high level after recovering from his injuries.
