With two preseason matchups complete, I felt it was time to publish another 53 man roster prediction. A few names have clearly changed since my first prediction.
Offense:
QB:
- Joe Flacco
- Ryan Mallett
No changes to the QB position. Josh Johnson is making his case, but the incumbent back-up won’t be going down easily.
RB:
- Justin Forsett
- Terrance West
- Kenneth Dixon
No longer do I have Javorius Allen on the roster. It’s not because he’s a bad tailback because he isn’t, but instead the Ravens are realizing they can’t keep five backs, and Javorius is the odd man out.
FB:
- Kyle Juszczyk
The Ravens utilize Juszczyk quite often. A lead blocker that can also run routes and perform anywhere on the field is a good tool for Marc Trestman.
WR:
- Mike Wallace
- Steve Smith Sr.
- Kamar Aiken
- Breshad Perriman
- Michael Campanaro
- Chris Moore
- Jeremy Butler
I have taken off Chris Matthews as he’s been injured for the past two weeks. Can’t be on the roster when you can’t perform. It’s too bad, because he consistently made plays in camp. After a lot of thought Jeremy Butler landed on this roster; in fact he was player number 53. He’s a big receiver with good hands, and after the second preseason contest I really like him on the squad.
- Benjamin Watson
- Dennis Pitta
- Crockett Gillmore
- Maxx Williams
OT:
- Ronnie Stanley
- Rick Wagner
- Alex Lewis
No longer do I have James Hurst here. The line may be without depth though, which is a cause for concern, especially with the injury history for Baltimore the past two seasons.
OG:
- Marshal Yanda
- John Urschel
- Vladimir Ducasse
- Ryan Jensen
I’ve added Vladimir to the roster with Juan Castillo playing him in practice often as the backup left guard over Jensen. I’ve kept Jensen because he has experience at center. Urschel is out with some kind of contusion, and if the Ravens lose both Urschel and Zuttah they still need a lineman who can snap.
C:
- Jeremy Zuttah
Defense:
DT:
- Brandon Williams
- Timmy Jernigan
- Carl Davis
- Willie Henry
No changes, all four still good players proving they’re worth a final spot.
DE:
- Lawrence Guy
- Brent Urban
Kapron Lewis-Moore is no longer on my list. I don’t think he has really demonstrated a special trait worth keeping. It’s unfortunate, he suffered back-to-back season ending injuries and couldn’t get up to speed.
OLB:
- Terrell Suggs
- Elvis Dumervil
- Za’Darius Smith
- Matthew Judon
Nothing different here, all four are capable edge rushers.
ILB:
- C.J. Mosley
- Zachary Orr
- Kamalei Correa
- Albert McClellan
- Anthony Levine Sr.
Nobody cut here, only the addition to Anthony Levine. He has proven worthy of a spot as a great coverage linebacker that isn’t shying away from contact. He made his plays in the second preseason game, and I really like the upside here.
CB:
- Jimmy Smith
- Shareece Wright
- Jerraud Powers
- Tavon Young
- Will Davis
- Maurice Canady
Added rookie Maurice Canady to the roster. He is capable of playing outside corner and his preseason and practices have really been big since coming back from injury.
S:
- Eric Weddle
- Lardarius Webb
- Matt Elam
- Terrance Brooks
Special Teams:
- Morgan Cox
- Sam Koch
- Justin Tucker
Injured Reserve/Suspended:
- Bronson Kaufusi - Broken Ankle
- Nick Boyle- 10 game suspension
- Darren Waller - 4 game suspension
- Cavellis Luckett - Injury waived
- Jumal Rolle - Injury waived
