After tonights victory against the Indianapolis Colts head coach John Harbaugh answered questions. One answer though pertained to the quarterback situation of the Baltimore Ravens. No, not Joe Flacco, although we do know he is in fact elite.
John Harbaugh answered questions about Josh Johnson and Ryan Mallett, and confirmed both quarterbacks are vying for the number two role behind Joe Flacco.
Tonights stats:
Jo. Johnson - 11/16 | 72 yds | 1 TD | O INT | O sacks | 5 CAR | 40 yds
R. Mallett - 6/8 | 47 yds | 1 TD | 0 INT | O sacks | 0 CAR | 0 yds
Looks to me they are in fact jockeying for position. Both quarterbacks are producing very well. You can’t say either one is ahead as the playing time is much different and the snaps are against different competition, but competition is clearly there. Last weeks stats also sing to same tune.
Jo. Johnson - 8/11 | 83 yds | 0 TD | 0 INT | 1 sack/8 yds | 3 CAR | 17 yds
R. Mallett - 11/15 | 91 yds | 1 TD | 1 INT | 0 sack | 2 CAR | 13 yds
Comparable numbers by both players in both games. Baltimore clearly does have competition in all areas, even the quarterback position.
