Baltimore Ravens waive Trent Richardson

The Baltimore Ravens have waived running back Trent Richardson after an injury kept him from participating in the early part of camp.

Richardson, the 3rd overall pick from the 2012 NFL draft, was attempting to make a comeback to the league after two very disappointing seasons and a year out of football.

He was signed by the Ravens in April, and made it clear that he had lofty ambitions for the second phase of his career after being asked about how he saw the future playing out for him.

"Putting on a yellow jacket," he said. "People wrote him off, he came back and did some amazing things. He always had the pedigree. He just had to get back to the guy that we know."

Regardless, it isn't going to work out for him in Baltimore after a hamstring injury sidelined him for OTAs and kept him on the PUP list for the start of training camp.

Many will continue to write off Richardson, but his comeback attempt is an admirable one, and hopefully isn't over just yet.
