The returner competition is beginning to clear up. The Raven waived injured receiver Kaelin Clay today. The second year player out of Utah hurt his foot in Saturday’s practice according to John Harbaugh (via Ryan Mink of the Ravens’ official website).
Clay had a rough time in last Thursday’s preseason game against the Panthers, muffing a punt, and dropping a very catchable pass.
Before joining the Ravens last season, Clay had bounced around from multiple teams. It seemed that he had found a home in Baltimore following his 82 yard punt return for a score against the Browns.
To fill his spot, the Ravens signed wide receiver Darius White. White was a four star recruit in high school who accumulated 93 catches for 2,293 yards and 35 TDs and a punt return and kickoff return for a TD over his final three seasons. He was named a USA Today High School All-American in 2009. White attended the University of Texas for the 2010-2011 season, and then transferred to Missouri where he spent the rest of his college career.
