Baltimore Ravens outside linebacker Terrell Suggs is on the PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) list and he doesn’t seem to be concerned about it. Suggs wants to take his time as he is recovering from his second torn Achilles injury in the last four years.
At age 33, Suggs knows that his body gone through a lot of battles after almost a decade and a half in the NFL and he wants to make sure to start off the 2016 season one the right path and that he has his body in the right shape.
"We're close to where we want to be," Suggs noted to ESPN’s Jamison Hensley via ESPN.com. "I'll be honest with you: The Ravens side of me is like, '[F---] it, Sizz, let's go. Let's play some football.' But I've got to be smart with it. I can't be timid, but I've got to be smart. It won't be long before I'll be off of it and out there practicing with the guys."
The Ravens need Suggs. The defense fell apart dramatically after he tore his Achilles in week 1 last season against the Denver Broncos. When Suggs went down for the season, the Ravens defense could not effectively compensate for his absence as outside linebacker Elvis Dumervil was getting more attention from the opposing offensive line week to week and the Ravens secondary could not in coverage long enough to the lack of a pass rush.
Hopefully, the Ravens don’t have to worry about those issues in 2016.
