Baltimore Ravens corner Jumal Rolle tears Achilles

The corner won't get a chance to contribute in 2016

Jason Getz-USA TODAY Sports

Ravens corner Jumal Rolle won't get a chance to prove his worth to the Ravens in 2016. The cornerback tore his Achilles while working out, which predictably means that he will miss the entire 2016 season.

The Ravens added Rolle to the practice squad in November after the Houston Texans dropped him. Rolle was activated to the 53 man roster and he played in a reserve role during the last three games, recording one tackle. Rolle was going to compete with the rest of the corners on the roster for a reserve role and a spot on the roster.

The loss of Rolle doesn't hurt the Ravens much at this point, as they still have Jimmy Smith, Shareece Wright, Kyle Arrington, Will Davis, Tavon Young, Maurice Canady, Julian Wilson, and Sheldon Price on the roster. But it does hurt Rolle's already tenuous career status, as the corner was going to have to compete to make the bottom of the Ravens' depth chart at corner and now he won't be able to compete for a job here or anywhere.
