Will Trent Richardson make the team?

The fifth year RB looks like he's giving his full effort into making a comeback

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

When the Baltimore Ravens signed Trent Richardson about a month ago, the football world reacted to the signing by making the usual Trent Richardson jokes that we've heard a thousand times by now and brushing him off as nothing more than a camp body. And he still might be nothing more than a camp body, but I still have to wonder if Trent realizes that this may be his last shot at an NFL career and if he makes the most of it.

What has me believing that Richardson believes that this is his last shot at playing football is this photo taken almost two weeks ago showing Trent losing 22 pounds to reach his old college weight of 218 pounds. Maybe it's a sign that Trent is going to attack this opportunity and show the world why he was drafted third overall in the 2012 draft. If the Ravens were able to succeed where the Browns and Colts had failed in coaxing out Richardson's full potential, they could have one exciting offense on their hands.

Of course, this is all a long-shot. Richardson couldn't make the Raiders' roster last year and he has to compete with Kenneth Dixon, Lorenzo Taliaferro, Terrence McGee, and Terrence West for one or two roster spots and then he'd have to win the starting job from Buck Allen and Justin Forsett. That doesn't make the prospect of the Ravens unleashing Trent Richardson's full potential any less exciting though.
