Former Ravens quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Troy Smith was arrested on charges of impaired driving, improper display of a license plates, and marijuana possession.
Smith was pulled over for improper display of a license plate at around 2:30 AM this morning. The vehicle Smith was driving did not have a front plate displayed, hence the stop. Smith reportedly smelled of alcohol and marijuana, and blew a .143 on a field breathalyzer test, which is well above the legal limit of .08. Upon further search, Westerville (OH) police officers found marijuana in Smith's possession. Per 10TV in Ohio, Smith is due in court on Wednesday and faces charges of Improper Display of License Plates, OVI, OVI Breath and Possession of Marijuana. He was released to his girlfriend shortly after his booking with no bail.
Since being drafted by the Ravens in the fifth round of the 2007 draft, Smith has bounced around in both the CFL and UFL, but hasn't been able to break though again in the NFL, as the last time he was on a NFL regular season roster was in 2010.
