The moves are coming quickly for the Ravens, who followed up a 3 year deal with free agent cornerback Shareece Wright by locking up a beloved Pro Bowler for five more years. Long snapper Morgan Cox, one of the Ravens affectionately known as 'the Wolfpack' with kicker Justin Tucker and punter Sam Koch, has been just finished his 6th season with the Ravens, making his first Pro Bowl.

Cox, with his elite snapping abilities, is loved around Baltimore, despite his usually anonymous playing position. He has appeared in 86 games for the Ravens, and the Ravens must really feel comfortable with him, having stuck with him despite 2 big injuries during those 6 seasons. Long snapper is a pretty interchangeable position in the league, so transitioning from one to the next is more seamless than other positions. So the Ravens keeping him around says something about his abilities.

Cox has done more than expected, performing well on a consistent basis and having even played through a torn ACL in the second quarter of a game against Cleveland in 2010. He stayed in the game and snapped for all 3 punts, both PATs and two FGAs.

So congratulations to Morgan Cox on the new deal. When he retires, maybe he will be the next career Raven to join the Ring of Honor. We are running out of good candidates, after all.
