Mackensie Alexander now ranked sixth cornerback by Mel Kiper Jr

Second round draft dream candidate falls to sixth

Joshua S. Kelly-USA TODAY Sports

The Baltimore Ravens are in clear need of a cornerback, and with Mel Kiper's recent rankings of Mackensie Alexander, the possibility of a second round cornerback are creeping closer.

After the combine Mel Kiper has ranked every position, and placed top ten players on every mark. The cornerback list I was slightly surprised by, as everybody is very anti Eli Apple, but pro Alexander. These rankings not only have Eli higher (3rd), but Alexander isn't even top five, slipping past William Jackson III & Kendall Fuller.

Last I have seen, ESPN's Todd McShay has Mack going with the 25th pick, to the AFC North rival Pittsburgh Steelers. Recently the Steelers haven't done very well with drafting cornerbacks, and hope to turn it around, if this were to be true.

Another worry is another AFC North team visited with him, the Cincinnati Bengals. Do remember that Adam Jones is going to be hitting the free agent market if no contract is signed before March 9th. A young replacement could easily become a translation from Clemson Tiger to Cincy Bengal.

Maybe a trade back turning into a back up scenario, but if the Ravens want to take a chance drafting the third-year sophomore they may not be able to sit patiently. Sure doesn't calm the nerves when the biggest AFCN competitors are both showing interest.
