Eight or nine days ago, reports surfaced that the Indianapolis Colts were the most likely destination for outside linebacker Courtney Upshaw. Well that turned out to be untrue, as Upshaw is still hovering out there in the free agent. But new reports indicate that the New England Patriots, New York Jets, and San Francisco 49ers are all interested in Courtney Upshaw.
The market for Upshaw took a little while to develop, but the former Raven has three teams vying for his services. Upshaw is currently talking to the Jets, but the 49ers and the Patriots plan on meeting with him if the Jets are unable to close the deal. The fact that there's competition for Upshaw's services drives up his asking price, which will probably be inflated already when you look at how offseason spending has gone on around the league.
And if Upshaw is signed at a higher price, the Ravens may be in line for a compensation pick during the 2017 offseason.
The Ravens might not be expressing too much interest in the stout run defender, but other teams are. Hopefully he makes enough to give the Ravens a comp pick.
