When the Baltimore Ravens signed free agent wide receiver Mike Wallace earlier this week, Wallace made a comment at his press conference with the Ravens on Tuesday that got quite a bit of national attention.
Wallace: "You have a quarterback that can really sling the ball. That's what I need."

That comment was one that some perceived as a shot at Minnesota Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater. Wallace, in his time with the Vikings during the 2015 season, had career lows in receptions with 39, receiving yards with 473 and in touchdowns with only two on the season. Wallace says that his comments were not in the form of disrespect towards Bridgewater as he discussed via USA Today Sports.
"I loved my coaches and teammates in Minnesota. I would never say anything negative about Teddy - that's my guy beyond football," Wallace noted. "I already talked to Teddy. We are A1...I don't have anything bad to say about Minnesota. I had a good time. Coach Zim (
Mike Zimmer ) is a great coach and I would play for him any day," Wallace texted. "The reason I picked Baltimore is because I think they give me the best chance to get back making the plays that I want to."
Wallace's comments were more in the form of a compliment for Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco who many regard as possibly the best deep ball thrower in the NFL. Wallace is looking forward to averaging over 17 yards a catch the same way he was doing in his four seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers from 2009-2012.
