In this special edition of flashback Sunday, we go back to 1998 when the Baltimore Ravens defeated the Indianapolis Colts 38-31 in Baltimore. This game was a critical win for the Ravens from a fan base standpoint. Ravens fans waited too long to get revenge on the Colts for leaving Baltimore in 1984 in the middle of the night in Mayflower trucks.
While the victory for the Ravens could never equal the what the Irsay family did to the city of Baltimore and the state of Maryland, the outcome of the game would satisfy Ravens fans for the time being.
This game featured a young Ray Lewis for the Ravens and a rookie quarterback in Peyton Manning. This meeting between the two legends would be just the beginning of a decade and a half of battling for AFC Supremacy. Both Lewis and Manning would retire with two Super Bowl rings, but Lewis got the last laugh when both players faced off in the AFC Divisional round in 2012.
Enjoy!
