Baltimore Ravens awarded three compensatory picks

Not what they were expecting, but still a quality haul

Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

Ozzie Newsome might be slightly disappointed now, as the Ravens have been awarded three compensatory selections in the 2016 Draft, instead of the four that insider sources were saying that the Ravens were expecting to receive.

The Ravens will receive two fourth round picks and one sixth round pick. The departures of Torrey Smith and Pernell McPhee gave the Ravens the fourth rounders and the sixth rounder either came from Owen Daniels. The league apparently did not believe that Tyrod Taylor did anything to warrant a compensatory pick, even though the former Ravens back-up threw 20 touchdowns for the Buffalo Bills and was voted to the Pro Bowl.

The Ravens now have nine draft selections, four of which are in the fourth round. That's ammunition that the Ravens can use to trade up with another team in the draft if they see a guy they like and want to move up a few spots to take him before someone else does.
