Another talented Smith on the field

A great Wednesday for Steve Smith Sr. as his son Peyton Smith signed with DePaul University to play soccer. Clearly pops is proud.

Peyton also took to Instagram with his announcement:

It's official. I'm a Blue Demon. For as long as I can remember, all I've ever wanted to do is play soccer. Now I get 4 more years of doing what I love the most. Thank you to God, first and foremost, for blessing me with my abilities and giving me the opportunity to continue my soccer career. Thank you to my parents for loving me and supporting me since I was little and believing in me even when I didn't believe in myself. Thank you to my coaches and teammates for helping me develop as a player and a person, as well as making sure I work hard even when it gets tough. And thank you to DePaul University for giving me the chance to represent them on and off the field. Can't wait to get started! Go Blue Demons! #dpumsoc ⚽️

Congratulations to Peyton, Steve, and to DePaul University. The player they received isn't just another kid. Looking at the stat sheet Peyton isn't just there because of his name, but instead for the 30 goals and 28 assists last season. Sounds like a lot, but even more impressive this happened in 22 games, and Carmel Christian Cougers record was 20-1-1 in North Carolina because of the young Smith.
