These past two seasons haven't been kind to Colin Kaepernick, as the quarterback who led the 49ers to two consecutive NFC Championships has regressed in 2014 and 2015. Over these past few months there has been talk on whether 49ers head coach Chip Kelly and 49ers owner Jed York still want to keep Colin Kaepernick after a disastrous 2015 season. Now there is talk that the quarterback no longer wants to be in San Francisco.
Colin Kaepernick's agents have requested that the 49ers allow them to seek out a trade. There are reports out saying that the Cleveland Browns and Houston Texans are interested in trading for Colin Kaepernick. If these rumors are true and the 49ers trade Kaepernick to another team, this could be helpful to the Ravens' draft plans.
Ideally, the 49ers would trade Kaepernick to the Houston Texans, which would still leave the Cleveland Browns as the team most likely to take the highest quarterback in the draft. The 49ers could potentially trade up in the draft to try and take the second best quarterback prospect.
The 49ers could either trade up with the Ravens, which would give the Ravens the 7th overall pick and a draft selection in the fourth, something that the Ravens would definitely use as trade ammo, or the 49ers could trade up with a team like San Diego, who has indicated that they are willing to trade down, and draft a quarterback, which would push another elite prospect down.
What happens with the former star QB could help the Ravens land an elite prospect in the draft, such as DeForest Buckner or Jalen Ramsey. Keep your eyes out for any moves during the next few weeks.
