Baltimore Ravens continue to lack pro-bowl ability in specific positions

Ravens have had a tough time bringing in top-end talent in certain areas

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

With the Pro-Bowl wrapped up two days ago, and the game was mainly chucking the ball deep to star receivers and defensive backs I realized we didn't get to see any skill position players do much. After all, two players were special teams, and the other two were in the trenches.

Keeping that in mind, I decided to look when the last time the Ravens had a Pro Bowl talent at each position.

Last time the Ravens had a Pro Bowl talent by offensive positions:

Quarterback: Steve McNair | 2006

Runningback: Justin Forsett | 2014

Fullback: Vonta Leach | 2012

Wide Receiver: N/A | Never

Tackle: Jonathan Ogden | 2007

Guard: Marshal Yanda | 2015

Center: N/A | Never

Last time the Ravens had a Pro Bowl talent by defensive positions:

Defensive Tackle: Haloti Ngata | 2013

Defensive End: Michael McCrary | 1999

Outside Linebacker: Elvis Dumervil | 2015

Inside Linebacker: C.J. Mosley | 2014

Cornerback: Chris McAlister | 2006

Safety: Ed Reed: 2012

Last time the Ravens had a Pro Bowl talent on Special Teams positions:

Punter: Sam Koch | 2015

Kicker: Justin Tucker | 2013

Long Snapper: Morgan Cox | 2015

Return Specialist: Jacoby Jones | 2012

All really cool information, and goes to show the Ravens are really lackluster in some areas. Never possessing a pro bowl wide-out, and never showing up in the center category either.

Some of these numbers are skewed, as last season Joe Flacco was offered an invitation to the Pro Bowl but declined due to his pregnant wife. The NFL Quarterback position is also quite full until Hall of Famers Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees help usher in the new generation. Now not all those names are always in there, but they do take up one extra spot, and just maybe that is the difference in Flacco seeing his true first pro-bowl or not.
