Rumor Mill: Broncos and Elway are done with Peyton Manning

Whether Peyton decides to retire or not, he's seemed to have played his last game as a Bronco.

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

While winning the Super Bowl was great and all, the Broncos have a massive elephant in the room that needs to be addressed. That elephant would be their quarterback situation.

Peyton Manning is currently under contract for next season to the tune of a $19 million base salary. The Broncos also have the apparent heir to Peyton, Brock Osweiler, entering free agency. While it isn't clear how much Osweiler would command on the open market, the general consensus is somewhere around $12 million a year. With the Broncos having quite a few other big name contracts coming up, namely Von Miller, something has got to give.

That something appears to be Peyton Manning. Walter Football is reporting that Broncos' General Manager John Elway is "done" with Manning and that he "won't be back with the team next year." Even if Manning doesn't hang up the cleats just yet, he certainly seemed to have played his last game in the blue and orange.
