To Ravens fans, Florida Gators cornerback Vernon Hargreaves lately has seen his stock slip. The fact that he is expected to measure into the combine at 5'9' certainly has much to do with the dip in popularity.
But even if he doesn't measure in as the fastest, tallest or highest jumping cornerback but his quickness, short area explosiveness and his ball skills should make up for it.
Even if Hargreaves were to struggle against taller receivers, it shouldn't hamper what the Ravens see him, as they already have a big corner on one side of the field in Jimmy Smith.
The Denver Broncos have shown that having a big corner and a smaller one does indeed work. Hargreaves provides value in the slot, as he could no doubt move to it on third downs, covering targets like Antonio Brown and Julian Edelman. He also has a good grasp on press-man, off-man, and zone coverage which will allow the defense to be multiple and unpredictable.
If his comparison is San Diego Chargers cornerback Jason Verrett, then in my opinion, If health isn't a concern, he definitely is worth the number six overall pick. A day one starter who is complete in his techniques.
