The Baltimore Ravens front office made a move as they extended the contract on one of their own; Head coach John Harbaugh received an extension. According to Jamison Hensley, a source says John Harbaugh is signed beyond next season.
There was speculation Harbaugh was only signed through 2017, as last reported with his prior extension, but now the winningest coach in franchise history is coming back on a longer contract.
Though this season many roared for the firings of many coaches on the Ravens, be it Harbaugh, Pees, Trestman and Mornhinweg, the tip of the spear is staying.
John Harbaugh owns the fifth-best winning percentage (.601) among active NFL head coaches, there wasn’t a chance this man was leaving Baltimore.
If Harbaugh still has authoritative powers, he may want to think about switching up his colleagues. In the last four seasons, the Baltimore Ravens have missed the playoffs three times. It happens often with teams winning a championship and going through big personnel change (Ray Lewis, Ed Reed), but next season Baltimore must right the ship. The offensive coordinator conundrum needs solved this offseason and the defense may also need a fresh coordinator.
