Week 9 marked the return for multiple Ravens, including C.J. Mosley, Marshall Yanda, Ronnie Stanley, and top wide receiver Steve Smith Sr.

Flacco looked for Smith on the first drive of the game, but the two were not on the same page. Flacco was looking for Smith to curl back, but Smith was looking for a back shoulder throw on a fade route.

On his second target of the game Smith pulled in his first catch on a shallow crossing route. Smith shook off Steelers safety Mike Mitchell with a stiff arm, and continued down the field for a 30 yard gain.

Mitchell was offically placed on Smith’s “hit list” after last season’s game in Pittsburgh. Following his run today, Smith made sure to let Mitchell know about the stiff arm.

The catch and run put the Ravens into Pittsburgh territory, and a third down conversion to Kamar Aiken set the Ravens up in a position to score. However, the Ravens failed to capitalize, as Joe Flacco threw an interception to rookie corner Artie Burns over the middle of the field.
