As the Baltimore Ravens prepare for the Cincinnati Bengals this week, the team has some promising news and not so promising news.
To start with the not so promising news, Ravens cornerback Jimmy Smith did not practice today as he still dealing with a back injury that sidelined him this past Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys. This could be a precautionary measure or his back injury is worse than many originally anticipated.
On offense, Ravens offensive guard Marshal Yanda did not practice as he continues to rest his shoulder that has been bothering him for much of this season. Ravens offensive lineman Alex Lewis is out for several weeks due to a high ankle sprain so he didn’t practice today either. Ravens running back Lorenzo Taliaferro didn’t practice today as he deals with a thigh injury.
Ravens tight end Crockett Gillmore was a limited participant in practice today as he recovers from a thigh injury that has sidelined him throughout this entire month. The Ravens have missed him on the field especially in the run blocking department. Ravens tight end Dennis Pitta has struggled to take on his blockers in the running game and in the passing game.
In addition, Ravens tight end Nick Boyle is back on the field after serving a 10 game suspension by the NFL for violating the league’s performance enhancing drug policy .
On defense, Ravens defensive lineman Brandon Williams didn’t practice today as he has a back and hand injury. Ravens defensive lineman Timmy Jernigan was a limited participant in practice due to a shoulder injury. The good news however is that Ravens outside linebacker Elvis Dumervil was a full participation in practice today and this week may be his best shot play for the first time since week 5.
