As the Baltimore Ravens and the Washington Redskins have stadiums 32 miles apart from each other, it will be a battle of the beltways (I-695 in Baltimore and I-495 in Washington) this weekend as the Ravens host the Redskins at M&T Bank Stadium.
The game between these two teams is always a battle of bragging rights especially among both fan bases but not as much between the two teams as they only face each other at least once every four seasons in games that matter.
But putting allegiances aside, there is an interesting statistic between both NFL cities that both fan bases might like. In each decade since the 1930’s, an NFL championship has been won by either Baltimore or Washington.
- In 1937, the Redskins won an NFL championship.
- In 1942, the Redskins won an NFL championship.
- In 1958, the Baltimore Colts won an NFL championship.
- In 1959, the Baltimore Colts won an NFL championship.
- In 1968, the Baltimore Colts won an NFL championship.
- In 1970, the Baltimore Colts won Super Bowl 5.
- In 1982, the Redskins won Super Bowl 17.
- In 1986, the Redskins won Super Bowl 22.
- In 1991, the Redskins won Super Bowl 26.
- In 2000, the Ravens won Super Bowl 35.
- In 2012, the Ravens won Super Bowl 47.
This has been going on for eight decades.
