Maxx Williams dealing with knee injury, Darren Waller to make roster?

NFL: Baltimore Ravens-Training Camp Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

Yesterday Harbaugh announced TE Maxx Williams has been dealing with an injury for the past few weeks.

“It’s the same thing he’s had,” Harbaugh said. “It’s a cartilage issue that he’s got in there. It’s not something that can be fixed until it’s fixed. It’s something he’s just got to play with and play through. Doctors have to tell us what is the best course of action going forward.”

Strangely enough, the Ravens have not noticed the loss of Williams with the return of Dennis Pitta and also Crockett Gillmore’s level of play. In fact this is the second tight end with injury this season, as Benjamin Watson is on injured reserve due to a torn Achilles.

This injury could leave the door open for the Ravens to place Darren Waller on the roster, and keep Maxx’s health in mind. Harbaugh also was asked about Darren Waller’s return, with his four game suspension complete.

“We’ll see. We’ll see how it plays out,” Harbaugh said. “We don’t have to for a week I think. We’ll just see where we go with that.”

Obviously Harbaugh isn’t going to break roster news on the post-game report, but there is a possibility of Williams landing on IR and keeping Waller for the time being. The Ravens have the tight end depth plus more. In fact, only six games from now they’ll be bringing back Nick Boyle from suspension, and with him, more questions on where he fits on the roster.
