Everything but the scoreboard, Baltimore lose the only stat that matters

NFL: Oakland Raiders at Baltimore Ravens Evan Habeeb-USA TODAY Sports

28-27

The only numbers that matter when the clock hits triple zeros. But observing the stats, the Ravens game looks as if they accomplished much more.

Stats in favor of the Ravens:

Total Plays: 54 - 80
Total Yards: 261 - 412
Yards per Play: 4.8 - 5.2
Passing Yards: 199 - 282
Rushing Yards: 62 - 130
Time of Possession: 25:16 - 34:44
1st Downs: 13 - 25

All these stats tell a story of something quite different. You’d think if Baltimore ran for 130 yards and Flacco aired the ball out for another 282 the Ravens would be moping Raider blood from the grass field. As we all know, that is not the case.

No doubt the Ravens need to cut out the penalties, the drops and the special teams mistakes; but the Ravens aren’t dead in the water. In fact, the Ravens still sit 3-1 believe it or not. After yesterday’s loss it surely feels otherwise, but Baltimore is still tied for first in this thunderdome of a division.
