Baltimore Ravens outside linebacker Za’Darius Smith has been fined for a roughing the passer penalty he committed against New York Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick in the Ravens 24-16 loss in week 7.

The Ravens have had a lot of issues with penalties during its four game losing streak as the team is currently tied for sixth in the NFL in total penalties with 56 and 16th penalty yards with 438. However, with this roughing the passer penalty, the Ravens have committed its second on the season which is tied for third most in the NFL with eight other teams.

Penalties for the Ravens was among many topics for discussion during the offseason as the team committed 122 penalties in 2015 which was tied for sixth in the league. Not much has changed in terms of discipline.

The biggest issue that the Ravens have had this year in terms of penalties is offensive holding which has occurred 14 times which ranks second in the NFL only behind the Oakland Raiders which has 15 on the year.
