The Baltimore Ravens will start running back Terrance West against the Oakland Raiders today which means that running back Justin Forsett will come off of the bench.
A game-day stunner: The #Ravens are benching starting RB Justin Forsett, going younger in the backfield. Expect Terrance West to start.

The Ravens running game in general has struggled as the team averages 82.3 yards on the ground which is ranked 25th in the NFL. However, whenever the Ravens have had a tiny spark in the running game, West has mostly provided it especially late in games as the Ravens currently sit at 3-0.
West on the year has 33 carries for 119 yards which is an average of 3.6 yards per carry. Forsett has 31 carries for 98 yards on the year which is an average of 3.2 yards per carry. Not a noticeable difference between the two players because the offensive line has struggled to open running lanes in general.
However, when you look at Forsett on tape, he simply has had a lot of issues breaking tackles. There have been multiple occasions whether it is in the running game or passing game that Forsett has been taken down on first contact.
Today may be what the Ravens need to provide a spark in the running game as the team faces a Raiders defense that allows 136 yards a game which is ranked 30th in the NFL and allowing 5.1 yards per carry. After this game, we will see where the Ravens running game stands for sure.
