Patrick Onwuasor moved to the Ravens 53 man roster

Baltimore Sun

The Ravens promoted rookie linebacker Patrick Onwuasor to the 53-man roster on Saturday, per the Ravens official website. In a resulting move, the Ravens waived OL Billy Turner according to ESPN’s Field Yates. Turner was claimed off waivers from Miami earlier in the week.

Onwuasor generated a lot of buzz near the beginning the preseason, as he was involved in the hit that kept running back Kenneth Dixon out for a few practices, and got into a fight with running back Javorius Allen as well.

Onwuasor is a former safety who was moved to inside linebacker due to his big hit capability, in addition to his coverage skills, evident in his nine interceptions as a senior at Portland State. Onwuasor was worked into the competition at inside linebacker, and found himself on the wrong end of the bubble for the Ravens Week 1 roster.

With Ravens inside linebacker C.J. Mosley all but ruled out for Week 6 against the New York Giants, Onwuasor will likely get a chance to see playing time, and hopefully make an impact.
