Ravens vs Giants Injury Report and game status

The Ravens just released its injury report for the Week 6 matchup against the Giants, and it seems the Ravens are moving the wrong way on the injury front.

After missing the first few week of the season, Elvis Dumervil made his return to the field against the Raiders in Week 4. Now, just two weeks later, Dumervil finds himself slated to miss time again, as he is listed as “out in Week 6, still dealing with his previous foot injury.

The Ravens have along list of players listed as “doubtful”, most of whom played against the Redskins in Week 5. Players listed as “doubtful” on Friday are very unlikely to play in the game on Sunday, especially as all of the Ravens listed as “doubtful” (except Ronnie Stanley) did not participate at all in practice on Friday.

C.J. Mosley’s likely absence leaves a huge void for the Ravens to fill, but Kamalei Correa will be a major beneficiary from this. He has received limited snaps at inside linebacker this season, as Mosley and Zachary Orr have both played so well. Now, Correa will get a chance to earn for snaps for himself with a good showing in Week 6. Don’t be surprised to see Albert McClellan play a few snaps at inside linebacker as well.

The Ravens will probably also be without Steve Smith Sr. Obviously, Smith is a huge part of the Ravens offense, and breaking in a new offensive coordinator may be just a little more difficult without one of Joe Flacco’s most reliable targets. Look for Kamar Aiken to have a larger role in this game. Aiken did a spectacular job filling in for Smith last year, but he has barely produced at all this year. Like Correa, this will be Aiken’s chance to earn a larger role in the offense.

Tackle Ronnie Stanley and Guard Marhsal Yanda will likely both miss Week 6 as well. Just like with the absence of Smith Sr., not have the o-line at full health makes Marty Mornhinweg’s job much harder. Alex Lewis will likely play tackle in place of Stanley, while Ryan Jensen will have the task of filling Yanda’s shoes. Ricky Wagner is listed as questionable. The Ravens will need him to be able to go, the Ravens line be in for a rough week.

Finally, Shareece Wright is listed as questionable, but according to ESPN, the Ravens expect him to be able to go on Sunday. While Wright hasn’t been very productive, the Ravens need all the help they can get to slow down Odell Beckham Jr. The Vikings shut him down as a team, it wasn’t just Xavier Rhodes. Jimmy Smith will not be able to get the job done on his own, and Wright will hopefully provide some help.

While they are much better off in terms of injuries as opposed to last year, the Ravens need to start getting healthy again. Hopefully no one will get hurt in Week 6 or 7, and the Week 8 bye will provide much needed rest.
