What a finale for the Ravens to go out on. Just as they started is how they finished, a one score game against a play-off team. Regardless, the team went out with heart and determination.
Offensively, Ryan Mallett was forced to throw 55 times after Javorius Allen couldn't catch much steam through the running game. One thing for certain, Ryan Mallett did this on three weeks of a system, and successfully won a game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and earned himself the role of quarterback while Joe Flacco heals up from the torn ACL.
Kamar Aiken hustled all year long, and after some absent games proved he is clearly worth the roster spot. Couldn't be more satisfied watching the big bodied receiver battle against tough corner-backs after Steve Smith Sr. was put on the injured reserved list.
Maxx Williams played his best game of the season today and clearly the chemistry is showing between Mallett & Williams. An off-season may help him rest up, get back on the grind, and come back even stronger. Even more scary Crockett Gillmore is the #1 tight end and Maxx Williams is an amazing compliment.
Taking it to the other side, what a second half turn-around by Timmy Jernigan and Za'darius Smith! A pass rush was finally created and the Ravens finally saw back-field tackles and sacks. Great job by these two. Also, Lawrence Guy filling in for Chris Canty was an amazing addition. This game rocking 1.5 sacks was a very helpful piece of the game, regardless of W-L.
Sam Koch & Justin Tucker are clearly the best P-K combo in the NFL, showing themselves a clinic today. This Ravens squad clearly enjoying a wonderful combination.
Overall, this is a team that shouldn't have been winning much of anything after all these injuries, but the Ravens still swept the Steelers, and in my book, that is a successful season in itself.
