An NFL fan compared Cam Newton to Hitler

Jason Getz-USA TODAY Sports

You know, sometimes I blame social media for the easiness in terms of its accessibility for trolls to hold on to, or just by the magnitude of  seeing ignorant or stupid people. What I bring to you today is honestly one of the dumbest things I have ever read and the response it received after is a bit shocking in a bad way.

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has been a lightning rod in the media from whether or not people like his celebrations, people don't like it, and there are racial aspects that many allude to for his dislike, besides the football aspect. Yes, the fact that Newton has carried his team to Super Bowl 50 against the Denver Broncos is last on the list.

Now, that isn't to say that the other discussions about Newton isn't important. But his current situation just describes what topic of discussion he has become around the country. What I am about to show you is from ESPN.com where Newton was explaining the reason why he has critics for some of the things he does.

"I've said this since day one," Newton noted via ESPN.com. "I'm an African-American quarterback that may scare a lot of people because they haven't seen nothing that they can compare me to."

Now, in the comment section, obviously it got a lot of responses. However, the thread starter mentioned hall of fame quarterback Warren Moon in terms of a comparison to Newton. And one of the responses was by Anthony Rex, who followed up with one of the most idiotic comparisons you will ever see in your life.

My goodness. There are so many layers to this stupidity that I don't know where to begin. I don't know If I should be surprised that his 10 cent head was able to type on a keyboard in the first place. And secondly, I don't know whether or not to be surprised by the idiotic statement, or be surprised that 85 people actually liked this post.

This guy is comparing Newton giving out footballs to kids after touchdowns, spending time with kids outside of football to make those kids feel good, to one of the most evil human beings in the history of the human race. This is where we are people.

I don't even care if it is a troll post. It is stupid and offensive on all levels to post such a thing. It is clear at this point in time that social media too easy to register on.

To think that 85 people actually think like Anthony Rex does shouldn't be amazing given the world we live in but it kind of is. At this point, I'm half shocked. The reason why I'm half shocked is because, one thing that I never do is underestimate the amount of stupidity one human being can obtain. But at the same time, the fact that someone this dumb could type on a keyboard is what gets me.
