Morgan Cox named to 2016 Pro Bowl roster

The long snapper gets his first Pro Bowl trip.

While kickers and punters might seem underappreciated, it's really the long snappers who are truly forgotten about. While Sam Koch has been one of the league's best punters this season, half of his success is due to Morgan Cox, who gets the ball to Koch right where he wants it each and every time. Cox was active in every game for the Ravens, and snapped all 74 punts to his fellow Pro Bowl punter.

That's why Cox has received a Pro Bowl nod. The NFL announced today that the Ravens' long snapper was selected by Chiefs' head coach Andy Reid to join to fan-voted roster. Cox was selected as a "need" player by Reid, who is coaching the game with the rest of his staff. The NFL's policy regarding long snappers in the Pro Bowl is that each head coach needs to select one long snapper as their "need" player.

The six-year veteran will be joining P Sam Koch and OG Marshal Yanda as the Ravens' third representative in the Pro Bowl this year.
