The Divisional round of the NFL Playoffs are here here and your Baltimore Beatdown writers have predictions ready. We'll keep track of them throughout the postseason and see who gets the bragging rights of choosing the perfect postseason. Tonight's slate is Patriots-Chiefs and Cardinals-Packers.
Arizona Cardinals vs. Green Bay Packers
The Green Bay Packers might've reversed their momentum against the Washington Redskins, but we expect them to come crashing back down against the Cardinals, as only one of our staff has Green Bay pulling the upset.
Matthew Stevens (4-0):
Packers 10 - Cardinals 30
The Packers have Aaron Rodgers, but he has looked off all season long. The Cardinals have the best mix of defense and offense as any team in the league and because of that, the game just isn't close.
Holt Smith (4-0):
Cardinals 28 - Packers 17
Aaron Rogers has been too inconsistent throughout the season to convince me that the Pack can beat the Cardinals defense for 60 mins, not to mention the Packers questionable defense being able to hold Zonas offense.
Chris Brown (3-1):
Packers 37 Cardinals 31 OT
As good as the Cardinals are, #12 White will be better. The Packers find a way to come back in this game, force OT, and force a turnover which leads to a stunning touchdown.
Chuck Mills (3-1):
Cardinals 35 Packers 10 The Cardinals dominated the Packers earlier in the season and there's no reason to believe that will change. A dominant Cardinals team will crush a weakened Packers team once again.
New England Patriots vs. Kansas City Chiefs
This is the first game where we experienced actual division, as the staff was 50/50 on who would win the game.
Matthew Stevens (4-0):
Chiefs 17 - Patriots 23
The Patriots simply have too many playoff victories and the better quarterback to lose this game. The Chiefs are riding a huge winning streak, but they beat up a Texans team that wasn't a true playoff team last week. They just don't have what it takes to beat the Patriots as sad as it makes me.
Holt Smith (4-0):
Chiefs 28 - Patriots 21
As of late, the Patriots have not been very impressive on either side of the ball. Coming off a dominant game against the Texans the Chiefs will have too much momentum for the Pats to handle
Chris Brown (3-1):
Chiefs 20 Patriots 16
The Chiefs continue their streak of winning football and send Brady home. The Patriots are not really the juggernaut of years past, will have no run game against this D, and will get worn down.
Chuck Mills (3-1):
Patriots 27 Chiefs 20
The Chiefs will likely not have the services of Jeremy Maclin on Sunday. The Patriots will likely have Julian Edelman back for this game and Rob Gronkowski is listed as probable. The Chiefs just won't be able to match the Patriots on this one.
There's a Super Bowl at stake for the teams in the postseason and there's bragging rights at stake for yours truly. I think the latter is what's really important here. Feel free to make predictions of your own below.
