With the Ravens set to kickoff against the Denver Broncos this Sunday afternoon, there are many story-lines between the two franchises. 2014 Ravens OC Gary Kubiak and former Ravens players Owen Daniels and Darian Stewart are all on the Denver's sideline now. There is the Mile High Miracle. And of course, Peyton Manning's career success against the Ravens, although that was all before the John Harbaugh-Joe Flacco era.
One story-line that also bears mention is how well these teams play in September. The Broncos are 2nd best September performer since Harbaugh took over the Ravens. The one team better than them: the Ravens!
Per @Ravens: #Ravens September record since '08 (under Harbaugh): 17-7, best in NFL. 2nd-best: Sunday's opponent, Denver (16-8) #RavensTalk— Bo Smolka (@bsmolka) September 9, 2015
Of course that is where the similarities diverge, as neither Peyton Manning nor the Broncos have experienced much playoff success since Flacco entered the league:
Broncos in the playoffs since 2008: 3-4 (only 1 road, 1 neutral site game)
Peyton Manning in the playoffs since 2008: 4-6 (only 1 road, 2 neutral site games)
Joe Flacco in the playoffs since 2008: 10-5 (only 2 home games)
So I guess if Flacco is January Joe, Peyton should be September Peyton?
