Following the tough loss to the Denver Broncos, the Ravens have announced that outside linebacker Terrell Suggs has torn his Achilles tendon and will be out for the remainder of the year.
Harbaugh said Terrell Suggs has Achilles tear. Done for year.

You might remember this injury with Suggs before as he has torn the Achilles tendon on the opposite foot while playing basketball during the offseason of the 2012 NFL season. While Suggs had enough time to recover from that injury, by tearing it in the regular season it is unlikely that Suggs will be able to recover quick enough to make an impact during the regular season.
The Ravens currently have defensive end Brent Urban on injured reserve with the designation to return. That designation can only be given to one player a year, so the Ravens won't even be able to hold onto Suggs and see if he is able to return to action later in the season like they did in 2012.
The loss will be major as the Ravens are thin at outside linebacker and even less thin with proven pass rushing talent. It will be interesting to see how the Ravens are able to make up for the loss of a player that put up 12 sacks in the 2014 NFL season and combined with the rest of the defense to be known for stopping the run. The Ravens did draft Za'Darius Smith in this year's NFL Draft in the fourth round, but a rookie being expected to immediately contribute typically doesn't work out for teams. It will likely take a combination of Smith and Courtney Upshaw to try and replace Suggs' output.
