Disclaimer: I'm not a football expert or a psychic and I'm probably wrong on most of these projections. Your prediction is just as good as mine, unless it's something really crazy.
2014 Record: 4-12
Losses: Roy Helu, Leonard Hankerson, Brian Orakpo
Cuts: Chris Chester, Tyler Polumbus, Barry Cofield, Stephen Bowen
Signings: Stephen Paea, Ricky Jean-Francois, Terrance Knighton, Chris Culliver, Dashon Goldson, Jeron Johnson, Junior Galette
Draft Class: Brandon Scherff, Preston Smith, Matt Jones, Jamison Crowder, Arie Kouandjio, Martell Spaight, Kyshoen Jarrett, Tevin Mitchell, Evan Spencer, Austin Reiter
The Washington Redskins needed to fix their offensive and defensive lines this offseason. And they did that, targeting offensive and defensive linemen in the draft and free agency. They took the best offensive lineman in the draft, Brandon Scherff and they signed big Terrance Knighton to bolster their defensive line. They extended Ryan Kerrigan, their best defensive player and they also signed Junior Galette after he was released from the Saints. They also signed Chris Culliver away from San Francisco to bolster their pass defense.
I don't know how much good that will do them.
Robert Griffin III doesn't look like he'll ever be anywhere near the player he was during his amazing 2012 season. The past two seasons of injuries and turbulent play make me doubt that the Redskins can quality play out of RG3 for any stretch of time again. And Kirk Cousins isn't the answer either.
The Redskins have some nice weapons. DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon are a solid wide receiver duo and Jordan Reed is a good tight end when healthy. Alfred Morris is still a reliable running back, even if his production has been declining.
I'm not confident in the Redskin secondary. Chris Culliver is good and Bashaud Breeland looks promising, but DeAngelo Hall is aging and coming off of an ACL tear and Dashon Goldson, Duke Ihenacho, and Jeron Johnson are not viable starters at safety.
Best Case Scenario: RG3 turns into 2012 RG3 and leads an improved Redskins team to glory.
Worst Case Scenario: Can it get any worse than being the worst team in the NFL?
Predictions:
The Redskins go through a purge after the season. Jay Gruden is fired, RG3 and Cousins are cut.
DeSean Jackson and Junior Galette are locker room cancers during the season. Jackson is traded after the season.
Galette fails to get 10 sacks for the first time since 2012.
Jordan Reed stays healthy and has the best season of his career.
Alfred Morris fails to run for 1,000 yards for the first time in his career.
Trent Williams takes his talents elsewhere
