New coach, same old issues.

Disclaimer: I am not a professional or a psychic. Your guess is as good as mine, unless it's something really crazy.

2014 Record: 4-12

Cuts: IK Enemkpali, Percy Harvin

Losses: Kenrick Ellis, John Conner

Signings: Darrelle Revis, Antonio Cromartie, Buster Skrine, Marcus Gilchrist, Kevin Vickerson, Joe Mays, Stevan Ridley, James Carpenter, Javier Arenas

Trades: A fifth round pick to the Bears for Brandon Marshall, a seventh round pick to the Rams for Zac Stacy, a 2016 sixth round pick to the Texans for Ryan Fitzpatrick, a third round pick to the Texans for DeVier Posey, a third round pick, a fifth round pick, and a seventh round pick.

Draft Class: Leonard Williams, Devin Smith, Lorenzo Mauldin, Bryce Petty, Jarvis Harrison, Deon Simon

New Coach: Todd Bowles

Questions: Can the offense show some sign of competence?

Defense:

Like the Rams, this is the strength of the team. The Jets have tons of depth on the defensive line. Muhammad Wilkerson, Damon Harrison, Kevin Wilkerson (you Jets really like the sons don't you), Leonard Williams, and Sheldon Richardson after he finishes a four game suspension (if it isn't extended). The Jets also have a nice linebacker corps with Demario Davis, David Harris, Lorenzo Mauldin, Calvin Pace, and Quinton Coples. The Jets also went all-out to fix their secondary, as they signed Darrelle Revis to a monster contract, signed his sidekick, Antonio Cromartie, and signed free agents Buster Skrine and Marcus Gilchrist away from the Browns and Chargers. They will be joined by 2014 first round pick Calvin Pryor.

Offense:

Like the Rams, this is the problem that lets the defense go to waste. The Jets have an issue at quarterback. Geno Smith will miss 6-10 weeks after getting punched in the chin and Ryan Fitzpatrick will start until he returns. Knowing Ryan Fitzpatrick, Geno won't have to wait too terribly long to get his job back. Knowing Geno Smith, Bryce Petty might get some starting time.

Which is a shame, because the Jets actually have some talent on offense.

The Jets have an offensive line with Pro Bowlers D'Brickashaw Ferguson and Nick Mangold. They have a nice committee at running back with Chris Ivory, Bilal Powell, Zac Stacy, and Stevan Ridley. They have a young tight end in Jace Amaro. They signed Brandon Marshall, a wide receiver who has made a career of catching passes for bad quarterbacks and they drafted a quality speed threat in Devin Smith. Eric Decker won't be stuck with Jeremy Kerley and Percy Harvin this year.

Best Case Scenario:

The Jets get game manager level play from their quarterbacks and they make it to .500 and maybe, maybe, steal a wild card spot on the back of their defense.

Worst Case Scenario:

The Jets get the same awful quarterback play that doomed Rex Ryan and languish at the bottom of the league.

Predictions:

Geno Smith takes back the starting job and throws for 2,700 yards, 15 Touchdowns, and 13 Interceptions.

Brandon Marshall has another 100 catch season.

The Jets running backs combine to have 1,600 yards and 15 Touchdowns.

The Jets defense will allow 15 touchdown passes.

Wins: Oakland Raiders, Houston Texans,Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans, Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, Washington Redskins

Losses: Cleveland Browns, Indianapolis Colts, Philadelphia Eagles, Miami Dolphins, Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots (Twice), New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys
