We try to stay out of the political mess that is the upcoming presidential election as we are really only a football website dedicated to the Baltimore Ravens. However, when the head coach comes up with such an antiquated response to a question, we have to kinda report that. So with much sadness, here we go...
Speaking to reporters after practice on Saturday, Harbaugh dove into his political affiliations.
I’m going Trump here. Build the wall. If you don’t have a border, you don’t have a country. You’re not a country without a border, right?
Despite leading in the polls for the GOP, Trump has been a guy that most analysts and observers have laughed at for being a lot of talk with little substance. That was until Donald Trump came out with some of his plan during a recent interview, in which he talks about building a wall to keep illegal immigrants out of the United States.
At the same time, you’ve got 12-15 million hard-working people here. Give them a shot. Give them a chance to become a citizen so they’re paying taxes. All of us know that it’s not that complicated, but this side doesn’t want to solve it, neither does [the other] side. Neither one of them want to solve the problem. Solve the problem.
All of this was on the back of being asked what he didn't like about the team's 30-27 win over the New Orleans Saints on Thursday. Harbaugh commented that the officials were rusty and that they could use the additional prep time as reported by Nathan yesterday.
His point about the referees needing additional time out on the field is a poignant one and should be looked at by the league. However, his stance on politics is pretty outdated and frankly one that shown little ability to work in any other country it has been done in. Head coach John Harbaugh should focus more on his team's preparations for the Phildaelphia Eagles than politics at this point and leave that for the experts to discuss.
