The Ravens have added a new social media tool to their ever-growing attempt to expand their fanbase to a younger demographic.
In late July, the team launched their Snapchat handle, 'bltravens'. Snapchat is a popular mobile social media platform in which users "Snap a photo or a video, add a caption, and send it to a friend." Many teams and organizations already use the app to post "stories", or a collection of videos and pictures that disappear after a 24-hour period.
"We’ve long operated on the belief that we need to be where our fans are. With a massive audience, including a concentration on 13-34-year-olds, Snapchat was a logical next step," says Ravens Senior Vice President of Digital Media & Broadcasting Michelle Andres.
The Ravens wish to expand on the growing demographic of younger fans by launching social media efforts like this. The app has already been a relative success, with the team's "Snap-to-It Challenge" that featured an autographed Steve Smith, Sr. jersey as a prize yielding many entries. Below are some of the 'snaps' from fans featured on the Ravens site.
Pretty impressive (and amusing) snaps.
You can add the team on the platform by simply searching for 'bltravens' in the app. The team's social media presence also extends to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Vine, YouTube, and Pinterest.
