Who is Steven Means? Drafted in the fifth round by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last year Steven Means is a young, and talented individual who seems to be wreaking havoc with the defense this off-season. Means is somebody definitely worth paying attention to in the off-season, and hopefully come Sundays this year.
Something that sticks out that you don't hear everyday, is his college resume. A D-end for the University at Buffalo Steven racked in 29.5 tackles for loss, 18.5 sacks, two interceptions, and three forced and recovered fumbles. I know you're thinking, "Those are some run of the mill stats, nothing special there." And you're correct. The stat you will be stunned by is the 5 blocked kicks in his career. How often have you seen a team block five kicks, let alone one single player achieve such a feat?
Steven is big, and his arms are long. The leverage he'll be able to gain against opposing lineman is going to give him a great advantage. His work ethic is already booming, and he feels it is a blessing to be around Harbaugh, Newsome, and the linebackers training and mentoring him: Terrell Suggs, Elvis Dumervil, and Courtney Upshaw.
When speaking at minicamp, Means had this to say, "It's been a long journey, but I trust God and trust He's put me in the right place. I'm just ready to contribute rushing the quarterback."
We all are ready too Steven. Now go train like a Raven. Because come the start of season, we all want nothing more than for you to 'Play Like a Raven'.
