Ravens Top 20 #17: The Snow Game

The 2013 Ravens were not good offensively. The offensive line couldn't protect Joe Flacco and the receivers weren't reliable pass catchers or route runners. The Ravens couldn't even establish a running game, something that they were capable of doing during the Kyle Boller era.

But entering Week 14 of the 2013 season, the Ravens were 6-6 and had a shot to make the playoffs

The Ravens were coming off of a two game winning streak against the New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers and were preparing to meet the Minnesota Vikings on a snowy Week 14 matchup.

The Ravens started out slow, but would take over in the Vikings' red zone after Matt Elam recovered an Adrian Peterson fumble. Joe Flacco would miraculously turn a near sack into a long run and he would hit throw a one yard touchdown pass to Ed Dickson on the very next play.

After that the Ravens would spend the second, third, and most of the fourth quarter nursing a seven point lead, until the Vikings scored a touchdown to put themselves in the lead. And that started the bonanza.

Joe Flacco led the Ravens on what appeared to be the game winning drive when he hit Dennis Pitta for a touchdown and then connected with Torrey Smith on the two-point conversion.

Then Vikings' runningback Toby Gerhart ran for a 41-yard touchdown that put the Vikings ahead.

Then Jacoby Jones returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown.

Then Cordarelle Patterson took a short pass and turned it into a 79 yard touchdown.

Then Joe Flacco would lead the Ravens on the game winning drive with only 45 seconds left and connect with Marlon Brown in the back of the endzone for a nine yard touchdown pass that sealed the game for good.

Efforts like these and the never say die spirit of the Ravens locker room is why we have never had to watch a single meaningless game during the Harbaugh-Flacco era.
